Lake Charles Little Theatre

Excellent commercial location centrally located in the heart of Lake Charles. While the existing structure sustained hurricane damage, it has remained a fixture in the community for many years. The property and building are notable for the award-winning adaptive reuse by the Lake Charles Little Theatre — the city’s oldest arts organization, founded in 1926. The purchase and rehabilitation of the property by the theatre in 1986 was one of the first major efforts to return to and renew downtown Lake Charles — an area which is now flourishing with residential, entertainment, and small-business development. The theatre building was not only the gathering place for the performing arts, but also the home of local arts memorabilia and photographs, gatherings of local and national theatre dignitaries, and a diverse guestbook of other cultural organizations who used the borrowed space for their own presentations. This historic structure boasts a grand foyer, ticket box office, concession stand, sound booth, dressing rooms, staging areas, elevated seating in auditorium, and a 40 ft. wide performance stage. A detached 1000 sq. foot metal warehouse with a roll top door houses theatre costumes, props, and equipment.
