I have been involved in the office and retail sectors of the New Orleans and Gulf South real estate markets for over 35 years. I have sold major CBD office buildings (Energy Center, 1615 Poydras), numerous suburban office bldgs. (Causeway Plaza) and First Industrial Louisiana portfolio. I have redeveloped a 142,000 sq. ft. retail center in Slidell, LA and have built buildings for Verizon, Allstate Insurance and Federal Express, as well as multi-tenant office buildings and strip centers at Northpark. I have been involved in the development of Northpark Business Park in Covington, LA, including a strip center with Starbuck's. I have also been involved in many office tenant rep assignments like Allstate Insurance (50,000 sf) and the Morris Bart Law Firm (70,000 sq. ft.). . I have done site selection work for banks and other retailers like Dollar General. I have been involved in the sale of numerous shopping centers, including one for GMAC in Houma, LA. As a result of this activity, Barry Spizer has been twice awarded the F. Poche Waguespack award by the N. O. Assoc. of Realtors for the highest volume of sales and leases in the city of New Orleans. Additionally, Spizer has served as the International President of the CCIM Institute.
