Former St. Gertrude the Great Parish Complex

17302 Highway 631, Des Allemands, LA is the former St. Gertrude the Great Parish Catholic Church complex which has been closed for a number of years. There is 26,236 SF of area contained within a mix of five (5) buildings: Rectory (3,104 SF); Church (8,332 SF); Education Building (4,400 SF); Community Center (8,000 SF); and Storage Warehouse (2,400 SF). The subject was also the home of the Des Allemands Catfish Festival and there is an open air, covered pavilion and numerous vendor booths. There is a small cemetery on the property (2,753 SF), that remains in perpetuity. The interior of all buildings have been demolished post-Ida with the exception of the Rectory. The stained glass windows in the Sanctuary are a part of the sale. The property is situated in the R3 (Multi-Family Residential District), and the R1AM (Single Family Residential Detached Districts). The R1AM District is "composed of areas containing one-family dwellings constructed on a permanent foundation, connected to public utilities, and which meet the architectural and aesthetic standards of a permanent residence.” The R3 District, is used for multi-family dwelling, boarding and lodging houses, and townhomes; and permits all uses in the R1AM District. Located between I-310 Bridge and Bayou des Allemands, and fronting Old Hwy 90 a short distance from the split off of US Hwy 90, and extending from the Hwy to the rear frontage along Old Spanish Trail Road.
